A new storm system capable of producing large hail and damaging winds is expected to move into already-drenched Arkansas by the end of the weekend.
The National Weather Service says the system will rapidly approach Arkansas from Oklahoma on Sunday, increasing the possibility of scattered severe storms.
More than 15 inches of rain had fallen in some southeastern Arkansas counties as of early Friday, prompting Governor Asa Hutchinson to add two more counties to the state's disaster declaration. Thirteen counties are now part of the disaster declaration.
In Oklahoma, forecasters say the chance for showers and thunderstorms will continue through the weekend. The threat of severe weather in the state is limited, but any strong storms could affect southeastern Oklahoma.
