The price of gasoline has shot up dramatically in the last week in Tulsa. It is increasing faster than the price of oil. Some grades of gasoline in Tulsa are now above $2 per gallon.
Gasbuddy.com's Patrick DeHann says part of the issue is the switch over to less polluting summer blended fuel. He expects the trend to continue through April and May. He says we could see pump prices start to decline in June. However, that depends on the price of oil.
Average retail gasoline prices in Tulsa have risen 11.1 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $1.80/g yesterday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 321 gas outlets in Tulsa. This compares with the national average that has increased 11.9 cents per gallon in the last week to $1.93/g, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
Including the change in gas prices in Tulsa during the past week, prices yesterday were 43.3 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 56.8 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 23.9 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 50.2 cents per gallon lower than this day one year ago.
