Roosevelt Tolon is in trouble with the law, as well as his girlfriend’s neighbors. The 39-year-old has been arrested in connection with last month’s apartment fire at the Leisure Manor complex near 15th and South Sheridan.
Tulsa Fire Department investigators say he set toilet paper on fire in his girl friend’s bathroom and that is what caused the fire.
Tulsa Crime Stoppers Executive Director Karen Gilbert said fire investigators had cause but didn’t know where to find their suspect.
"That anonymous tip that came through Crime Stoppers helped lead those investigators to arrest Roosevelt Tolon," Gilbert said.
TFD Public Information Officer Andy Little said the fire spread into the attic and created a dangerous situation.
"They not only put the public at risk, but they also put the responding firefighters at risk. So, we’re very thankful that we have a program like Crime Stoppers and very thankful that the Tulsa Police Department came and backed us up in this and made it possible to make that arrest," Little said.
The blaze displaced more than 60 people. Tolon also faces charges from a 2018 domestic violence case.
Tulsa Crime Stoppers accepts anonymous tips at 918-596-ARSON and 918-596-COPS. Tips led to 34 arrests in 2018, and those tips were eligible for rewards up to $1,500.
