OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma Treasurer Randy McDaniel says he won’t seek re-election in 2022.
The first-term Republican said in a statement Tuesday that with his children in middle school, he plans to focus on his family instead of a statewide campaign.
McDaniel said he made the announcement to give potential candidates plenty of time to organize and campaign.
A former state House member who served 12 years in the Legislature, McDaniel won all 77 counties in his race for treasurer in 2018, receiving nearly 72% of the vote against independent Charles de Coune.
