A Tulsa doctor has been charged in a nationwide crackdown on health care fraud.
Dr. Ladd Atkins, 50, was charged in the Northern District of Oklahoma with conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance unlawfully as a registrant and conspiracy to commit health care fraud. Charges allege Atkins worked with others to prescribe Adderall and defrauded Medicare and Medicaid, according to prosecutors.
Atkins practices cosmetic surgery in Tulsa, according to his website.
Atkins was reportedly charged as part of the Department of Justice’s 2025 National Health Care Fraud Takedown. The nationwide effort resulted in charges against more than 300 defendants including 96 doctors, nurse practitioners, pharmacists and other licensed medical professionals.
The defendants’ schemes involved more than $14.6 billion dollars in health care losses. Law enforcement also seized more than $245 million dollars in assets including cash and luxury vehicles nationwide, according to a news release.
