The Funny and Imaginative World of Novelist Robert Olen Butler

Tulsa, Oklahoma – On today's show, a delightful chat with the Pulitzer-Prize winning author Robert Olen Butler. This prolific, creative, savvy, and engaging writer --- whose latest book is "Hell: A Novel" --- will be among the many professional scribes attending the 2009 Nimrod Awards Celebration and Writing Workshop here on the TU campus. The event, which is called "Words at Play" this year, will happen tomorrow, Saturday the 24th, from 9:30am till 4:00pm (in the university's Allen Chapman Activity Center). The day-long writing workshop will feature classes in poetry, fiction, memoir, travel writing, and fantasy, as well as one-on-one editing sessions, readings, and panel discussions. Participating writers include poets Marie Howe and Marvin Bell; fiction writers Butler and Linda Watanabe McFerrin; fantasy writer Peter S. Beagle; and memoirist W. Scott Olsen.
