Chamber Music Tulsa Offers "Love Letters from Tesla"

When Bruce Sorrell was starting his tenure, about a year ago, as Executive Director of Chamber Music Tulsa, someone told him that this outstanding organization --- which will turn 60 next year, and which has been bringing world-class music ensembles to our community for decades --- was "one of Tulsa's best-kept secrets." As he tells us on this edition of ST, Sorrell wants to change this. To that end, Chamber Music Tulsa is currently hosting a week-long residency (entitled "Love Letters from Tesla") by the young, highly acclaimed Tesla Quartet as well as the Grammy-nominated contemporary American composer, Carter Pann, who's also our guest today. The Tesla Quartet and Pann are giving, together and separately, several different performances and presentations throughout the Tulsa area this week --- free as well as ticketed events at bus stations, libraries, schools, shopping malls, and so on, along with locally partnered events with Tulsa Camerata and the University of Tulsa --- all of which will culminate with a performance by the Tesla Quartet at the Tulsa PAC's John H. Williams Theatre on Sunday the 17th at 3pm. This performance will include "Love Letters," one of Pann's signature compositions. (You can get a full rundown of this week's "Love Letters from Tesla" schedule of events at the Chamber Music Tulsa website, and can learn more about Pann's ongoing career in music here.)
