Peaceful Demonstrations Continue at Tulsa Police Buildings

Hannah Phillips

A group of protesters continued peaceful demonstrations against racial injustice Thursday night at Tulsa police headquarters.

The Tulsa World reports a group of mostly teenagers and young adults started their demonstration at the Riverside Division in south Tulsa, chanting along Riverside Parkway before kneeling for eight minutes and 46 seconds, the amount of time Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin had his knee on George Floyd's neck.

From there, the group moved to the Mingo Valley Division in east Tulsa before going to the Gilcrease Division in north Tulsa.

Organizers met with police before the demonstrations and talked and prayed with them at different times during them.
