Tulsa City Hall Announces New Deputy Mayor

City of Tulsa
Cassia Carr.

The city of Tulsa announced Sunday the appointment of attorney Cassia Carr to serve as the city's deputy mayor, effective Aug. 30.

“Cassia is brilliant, hard-working, and passionate about Tulsa,” Mayor G.T. Bynum said in a statement. “As the President of the Tulsa Economic Development Corporation board and as the Vice Chair of the Tulsa Authority for Economic Opportunity, she has been closely engaged in our efforts to grow Tulsa’s economy. She brings strong private sector experience to our leadership team at the City of Tulsa, and I am excited for the great things I know she will achieve for our community in this new role.”

According to the city, Carr has previously worked at FritoLay, the Williams Companies, and the law firms Hall Estill and Winters&King. She holds degrees from the University of Tulsa and Oral Roberts University.

"The Deputy Mayor serves as the acting mayor in the mayor’s absence and coordinates policy matters on behalf of the City of Tulsa," the city said in a release. "As Deputy Mayor, Carr will oversee the Administrative Division of City departments - including Municipal Courts, Human Resources, Information Technology and Customer Care – as well as ongoing public safety support initiatives and collective bargaining. She will also work with Deputy Chief of Staff Rodrigo Rojas in coordinating the ongoing 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre Graves Investigation."

Carr replaces Amy Brown, who left City Hall in July for a job with the Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO).
