Nancy Pearl Offers Some Great Summer Reading Suggestions

On this installment of ST, we welcome back Nancy Pearl, our longtime book reviewer. Well-known for her work as a librarian, bestselling author, and literary critic, Nancy began her career as a bookseller and librarian here in T-Town; she can still be heard recommending books every now and again on NPR's Morning Edition. She was, until August 2004, the Executive Director of the Washington Center for the Book at the Seattle Public Library --- and was also the founder of the pioneering and widely imitated "If All Seattle Read The Same Book" program. Here (in order of their endorsement) are all the books that Nancy discussed with us on the 2013 Summer Reading edition of our program:

Richard Ford. "Canada"

Timothy Egan. "Short Nights of the Shadow Catcher: The Epic Life and Immortal Photographs of Edward Curtis"

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. "Americanah"

S. J. Bolton. "Lost"

Emma Bull. "Territory"

Lea Carpenter. "Eleven Days"

Aminanata Forna. "The Memory of Love"

Lisa Graff. "A Tangle of Knots"

Brian Kimberling. "Snapper"

Patrice Kindl. "Keeping the Castle"

Ben H. Winters. "The Last Policeman" and "Countdown City"

And here, by way of closing, are three additional books that Nancy was hoping to chat about on our show, but the clock ran out:

Jojo Moyes. "Me Before You"

David Quammen. "Spillover"

Rick Yancey. "The Fifth Wave"
