On this segment of StudioTulsa, we are pleased to chat with Elaine Pagels, a leading theological scholar in America who has taught at Princeton University since 1982. Pagels is also a bestselling author; her landmark book, "The Gnostic Gospels," analyzed more than 50 early Christian manuscripts that had been unearthed in Egypt in the 1940s -- and it won both the National Book Critics Circle Award and National Book Award. Her most recent book, which is a New York Times bestseller and Editors' Choice selection, is "Revelations: Visions, Prophecy, and Politics in the Book of Revelation." Later this week -- on Thursday the 24th, beginning at 7:30pm in the Donald W. Reynolds Center on the TU campus -- Pagels will give a free-to-the-public address on her ongoing and truly groundbreaking study of religious mysticism in general and Christianity in particular. This address is offered as part of the University of Tulsa's Presidential Lecture Series, which is sponsored by the Darcy O’Brien Endowed Chair and is supported by TU's Office of the Provost.
