Zarrow Center Exhibits Highlight OVAC's Oklahoma Art Writing & Curatorial Fellowship

Jul 10, 2019

On this edition of ST, we hear about an Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition (or OVAC) program that supports young professionals interested in a career as a curator, an art critic, an arts-based journalist, or the like. Through its Oklahoma Art Writing & Curatorial Fellowsship, OVAC has helped several individuals hone their writing and/or curatorial skills, which has culminated in a special "Curatorial Lab" series of exhibits happening at the Henry Zarrow Center for Art & Education in downtown Tulsa. The first two exhibitions at the Zarrow Center, "Humanity Is the Foundation" and "Stripes Around My Shoulders," opened on July 5th -- and two additional exhibitions, "Pink: An Exploration" and "REMIX: Cultural Collaboration," will open there on August 2nd. These shows mark the end of a year-long course of study in contemporary art criticism and curation. Our two guests are Dr. Kirsten Olds, an Assistant Professor of Art at TU connected with OVAC, and Catherine Crain, a current Oklahoma Art Writing & Curatorial Fellow.
