On this edition of ST, an interesting exit interview with John W. Silva; the CEO of Morton Comprehensive Health Services here in Tulsa will leave this post next month to assume a similar job in his native Massachusetts. Silva has been at the helm of Morton since 2010. Under his leadership, it has expanded from its North Tulsa headquarters to additional locations in Bartlesville and west Tulsa and has moreover become Oklahoma's only community health center-based teaching facility. (In 1993, Silva was elected President of the National Association of Community Health Centers, the largest association of community, migrant, and homeless health centers in the US. Also in the early 1990s, he served on then-First Lady Hillary Clinton's Universal Health Care Development Group, representing the nation's hundreds of community health centers.) Silva joins us to speak about his notable accomplishments at Morton while also reflecting more generally on the state of community health in both our state and our city. An established and well-respected expert in his field, Silva will be missed by the Tulsa health care community.
